One Heritage’s plans for a landmark residential tower in Greengate have been approved by Salford City Council’s Planning Committee this week.
The 55 storey residential development will be the tallest in Salford and will include one, two and three bedroom apartments, as well as commercial space and major public realm improvements including a scenic river walkway.
One Heritage Tower will not only regenerate the existing site and deliver much needed housing, but will also complement Salford City Council’s aspirations for the wider Greengate area including a commitment to contribute to a new public square known as the ‘Market Cross’ which was the historic centre of the original settlement of Salford.
One Heritage Tower will complete the River Irwell frontage of the emerging Greengate quarter of Salford and act as a centre piece to the cluster of tall buildings that have recently been completed and are continuing to come forward on neighbouring sites.
It is expected that construction will commence in 2020, with an estimated completion date of 2023/4.
Awais Shahid, Director Atzaro Real Estate and Project Director for One Heritage said:
“We are delighted that this iconic development has been granted planning approval this morning. We look forward to delivering a truly unique, high quality residential development that will raise the bar of the PRS offer in the region and provide much needed improvements to the public realm surrounding the site.
We have been in discussions with main contractors for a number of months and we look forward to finalising negotiations to commence construction later this year.”
Nick Berry, Director OMI Architects said:
“We are delighted to see our proposals for One Heritage tower secure planning permission. This is a major milestone for the project and for the wider Greengate area which is now a significant part of the regional centre. One Heritage Tower will make a significant contribution to the profile of the area and will provide Greengate with an identity which sets it apart from other clusters around the city. We have worked closely with Salford City Council to ensure that our proposals are not only positive in their own right but compliment other neighbouring developments to contribute to a vibrant and successful place.”
